02 Mar Immediate Dentures – Are they really as bad as people think?
Many people are hesitant to get immediate dentures because they have heard negative things about them. In this blog post, I will explain why immediate dentures aren’t as bad as people think.
Immediate dentures are dentures that are placed in your mouth immediately after your teeth are extracted. This means that you don’t have to go without teeth while your gums heal, which can take several months.
If you need to have teeth extracted, immediate dentures are one of a number of treatments that can help you regain your smile. As well as helping with eating and chewing, they can also give you the confidence to laugh and smile confidently again.
Some worry that these dentures won’t fit properly. This is not necessarily the case. Our dentists at City Bridge Care will take accurate impressions of your mouth before your teeth are extracted and only work with highly skilled dental technicians so they can make sure that your dentures fit properly.
While there may be some minor adjustments needed to get everything fitting exactly right, our dentists will work with you to ensure that your dentures fit comfortably.
Another misconception is that dentures won’t look good in the mouth. Again, you won’t have to worry about that. Technology has moved on considerably and we use only high-quality materials which mimic the look and feel of your natural teeth.
Finally, a worry that immediate dentures will affect the ability to speak or eat. This we understand has legs as we have to do it many times a day!!! While it may take some time to get used to speaking and eating with dentures, most people find that they can do both without any problems in a very short space of time. Our dentists can give you tips on how to speak and eat with dentures, and can also make adjustments to your dentures if necessary.
If you still aren’t convinced, the patient we show above who was treated by Andrew Horne at City Bridge Dental Care and Leigh Jones at Artisan Dental Studio in Carmarthenshire, should put your mind at rest. It took the patient a day or so to settle in to his new denture but he was then able to eat and speak normally and was pleasantly surprised at how natural his new dentures looked.
In conclusion, I believe immediate dentures are an extremely good option and you shouldn’t always listen to the negative talk around them. I think the results speak for themselves. What do you think?
